Abstract

Introduction. With the objective of carrying out an approach from the Pediatric Advanced Practice Nursing (PAPN) to the Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) and the meaning it has in our country´s current context with the development of nursing specialties and specifically the Pediatric Nursing speciality.

Material and method. A bibliographic review was carried out from June 2018 until July 2019, which was identified through systematic searches, without temporary filters in national and international databases, and also incluiding books and grey literature.

Results. Making a comparison between figures of Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP), the most frequent and recognized worldwide with the clossest figure we have in Spain; a Pediatric Specialist Nurse (PSN) carrying her own accreditation, commonalities were established between both of them.

Conclusion. There is an obvious cohesion between the NNP that would be an PANP and the PSN, specially being checked  in the language of drafting the legal text where advanced practice is mentioned in many occasions, in addition to competences that are listed and explained in the theoretical framework of the specialty that are in intimate harmony with the skills of advanced practice.
